Finding and Using OER in the Classroom: Business and Social Sciences In-Person

Looking to switch up your course materials for the coming academic year? Consider using open educational resources (OER).

OER are educational materials (including textbooks, modules, streaming media, simulations and much more) that are an exciting alternative to commercially published textbooks and other course materials. OER are not only free of cost, but they are often editable and adaptable to ensure that you’re able to provide the best curricular content for your course.

Whether you’re looking for an open textbook or you’d like to curate a number of resources to align with your learning outcomes, this workshop will equip you with tips and best practices on how to find and evaluate OER that are appropriate for use in your teaching. Participants will leave this workshop with an understanding of the variety of sources and collections that exist for OER in Business and the Social Sciences, as well as several tools they can use when evaluating content for quality and relevancy.

Please note: this workshop will take place online via Zoom. A reminder email with the meeting link will be emailed to you 24 hours before the workshop. This workshop is only open to members of the U of G community. If you do not register with a UofG email address, your registration will be removed.
