Conducting a Systematic Review

Systematic reviews seek to identify, appraise, and synthesize all relevant studies on a particular topic. Conducting a systemtatic review requires a detailed and comprehensive plan and search strategy, developed prior to conducting the review.

This is a three-day workshop (April 14, 15, & 17, 2020). Registration is hosted by the University of Guelph Library and faciltated by Dr. Nancy Santesso (McMaster University and Cochrane Canada). The following topics will be addressed:

  • Types of reviews (narrative, scoping, systematic)
  • Developing a review/research questions
  • Developing a search strategy
  • Searching online databases (PubMed, Medline, CINAHL)
  • Managing citations and documenting (PRISMA)
  • Screening and selecting studies
  • Reporting systematic reviews
  • Publishing systematic reviews

A laptop is required.

Priority will be given to members of the University of Guelph community.
