Data Skills: Introduction to the Text Encoding Initiative

The Text Encoding Initiative is a community of practice that collaboratively creates a set of guidelines for marking up texts in digital form. This workshop will introduce participants to the basic concepts behind text markup and is designed for beginners or those thinking about starting a digital, textual project.

In this workshop, we will work together to understand the components of a text, the basic TEI tags, and will mark-up a simple document. Participants should have a laptop, and should download the 30-day trial for Oxygen here: https://www.oxygenxml.com/xml_editor/register.html
