Pronunciation Group: Sentences
Offered in the winter semester, Pronunciation Group: Sentences provides an opportunity for graduate students, post-doctoral students, visiting scholars/researchers, faculty, and staff with English as an additional language (EAL) to practice their English pronunciation. There is no prerequisite for participation. Participants will meet twice a week for a total of 10 hours to progress through sentence-level pronunciation activities in the textbook Clear Speech by Judy Gilbert. Topics include sentence stress, sentence focus, emphasis of content words, de-emphasis of structure words, and thought groups.
Participants will be able to use the textbook free of charge within the classroom. However, students who wish to make use of the book outside of the classroom can purchase the book on their own.
Note: This series was titled Level 2 in the past.
Pronunciation Group: Sentences begins on January 31, following Words. Register for Words here.
